Police appeal on missing girl

Police appealed for help to find missing girl Tai Chi-kwan, 10, who was last seen at about 3.30pm yesterday wearing her Methodist School uniform and black shoes when on the way to a tutor school at the Man Cheong Building on Ferry Street, Yau Ma Tei. She is 1.22 metres tall, of medium build, with a round face, long straight black hair and a scar on her left hand. Anyone with information should call 2359 8214.

Knife suspect held at checkpoint

A man wanted for injuring a 22-year-old woman with a knife in Cheung Sha Wan on Friday was arrested when he returned to Hong Kong from Shenzhen. The man, also 22, was intercepted at Lok Ma Chau checkpoint at about 8.45pm on Sunday, police said.

Cooking fumes floor boy

A three-year-old boy passed out at his Mong Kok home at 12.30pm when his mother cooked lunch on a gas stove with the windows closed because it was raining. Emergency services believe the cooking burned up the oxygen inside the small flat, in Tai Kok Tsui Road. The boy was treated at Kwong Wah Hospital.

Motion urges special-needs policy

A non-binding motion calling for a comprehensive policy to help students with learning difficulties such as dyslexia has been passed. Four pan-democrats on the Legislative Council's education panel, who were the only legislators present at the vote, supported the motion urging the government to assess students before they enrol in primary and secondary schools.

Blind couple hurt in country park

A blind man and his wife suffered minor injuries when they slipped two metres down a slope in Pat Sin Leng Country Park, Sha Tau Kok.

Cabbie injured in crash

A taxi driver, 62, was injured when he lost control of his cab and hit a barrier in Tai Tam Road near Hing Man Estate, Chai Wan, at 4.45am. He was treated at Eastern Hospital.

Teacher's son leaps to death

The 23-year-old son of a member of Chinese University's teaching staff killed himself by jumping off a staff residence on the Sha Tin campus.
