Five police officers and a protester were injured yesterday when demonstrators tried to break into a compound leading to housing chief Michael Suen Ming-yeung's Happy Valley home. About 30 people had gathered at midday to urge the secretary for housing, planning and lands to protect public housing estate tenants from excessive rent rises by putting a cap on rent increases in the Housing (Amendment) Bill. The six injured were discharged after treatment at Ruttonjee Hospital. A few demonstrators managed to post petition letters on a gate.
