Customs officers arrested eight men, seized 5,300 litres of illicit diesel fuel worth HK$28,000 and impounded three oil tankers yesterday. Officers said two of the tankers had been converted into fuel manufacturing workshops and used as mobile filling stations. 'Investigations showed that the two oil tankers could manufacture more than 2,000 litres of illicit diesel daily and supply goods vehicles in Ma On Shan and Tai Po,' Ng Yan-kwong, deputy head of customs' revenue and general investigation bureau, said. Two men are suspected to be the keys to the syndicate while the others were buyers of the illicit fuel.
