Zijin Mining Group's principal activity is the exploration and development of mining resources, particularly gold mines. Other activities include geological studies and a mining technique consultancy. One of the mainland's largest gold miners, it was reported in March that the company may spin off its growing base metals business to give a more appropriate valuation for its gold and base metals operations. The company plans to tap into other precious metals, especially platinum and palladium.
