Lulu opens in Kowloon

Tie for womenswear award

The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) held its annual Fashion Awards in New York last week and, for the first time in its 25-year history, there was a tie for womenswear designer of the year. Designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler shared the honour with Oscar de la Renta.

Union supports breast cancer

In other CFDA news, the council has teamed up with luxury internet retailer to expand its Fashion Targets Breast Cancer programme globally. The website will offer limited-edition pieces with proceeds going towards the programme.

Miller gets nod from Tod's

Italian fashion and leather goods label Tod's has for the first time chosen a celebrity to front its advertising campaign. Actress Sienna Miller will appear in the print campaign, showcasing the label's autumn/winter 2008 ready-to-wear and accessories collections designed by creative director Derek Lam.

Puma roars into luxury market

Puma has tapped the luxury market with a range of premium designer accessories, travel equipment and luggage called Urban Mobility. The 10-piece collection will be launched globally next month.
