Got a patriotic uncle from Harbin visiting you during the handover anniversary? The tourist attraction to dump him at for a few hours has to be The Peak's Madame Tussauds. Chinese Leaders & Heroes might be a tad overly proud and nationalistic for our taste, but no doubt those doing a little flag-waving will get a kick out of posing with, in all their wax glory, (from left) Yang Liwei , China's first astronaut; Zhou Enlai , former Communist Party head; Sun Yat-sen, modern China's founder; paramount leader Deng Xiaoping (seated), Mao Zedong and Premier Wen Jiabao . Interestingly, they all look more laid back than in real life.

'Never before, in any of Madame Tussauds' attractions, have such powerful influencers been displayed in one exhibition,' Nick Varney, chief executive of Merlin Entertainments, which owns Madame Tussauds, said in a release. The six figures of influence and national impact will be on permanent display.

It's a unique venture for the museum. Unlike most new figures, the London studio sculptors didn't get to measure and compare their work against the real person as they are either dead or too busy for a sitting. Instead, the team spent six months poring over photographs and historical documents to ensure the accuracy of measurements, skin tone and facial features. Still, it's not as much fun as the New York Madame Tussauds, which is now displaying Paris Hilton in a black-and-white-striped prison uniform.
