Facial cleanser

Facial cleansers unclog pores by removing makeup and dirt. Use twice a day to help prevent acne and other skin breakouts.

Anna Sui Foaming Wash (HK$205/150ml)

A self-foaming mousse that does the trick and leaves the skin clean without drying. But you'd expect more from Anna Sui - where's the pleasant fragrance?

Ingrid Millet Source Pure Aroma Foaming Cleanser gel for normal and combination skin (HK$250/125ml)

The natural cleanser gel is soft and moisturising. It has a cooling effect that leaves your skin feeling refreshed. But the cap is hard to unscrew, and you need quite a lot before your skin feels really clean.

Bioscreen Anti-Redness Mild Cleanser (HK$160/150ml)

You don't need water with this lotion cleanser - you just wipe it off with cotton wool. It's gentle and calming, so good for sensitive skin that's prone to redness. But girls and boys with oily skin may find it doesn't leave skin feeling fresh and clean.

Fancl Washing Powder (HK$115/50g)

Once the powder is mixed with water, this cleanses the face and restores moisture. But the powder is more about gimmick and novelty than increased effectiveness.

Fresh Soy Face Cleanser (HK$380/150ml)

This is a mild cleanser that is very gentle on the skin. It does not generate much foam, though, and leaves a slimy film on your skin. Not ideal for those who enjoy a thorough clean. The smell was a bit unpleasant.

Benefit Fantasy Mint Wash (HK$240/ 150ml)

The mint fragrance makes skin feel fresh, a nice treat on hot summer days. Not recommended for those who prefers foams to milky cleansers. Photos: Dustin Shum, May Tse, Jonathan Wong
