A host of information, all under one roof

After a stressful period of public exams, parents and students can finally spare some time to research different academic fields and shop around for schools or training centres. Without proper advice and sufficient information, the search can be difficult.

The International Education, Learning & Professional Development Expo 2007, gathers teachers from the most prestigious schools and experts in all areas in order to cater to the strong needs of graduates and anxious parents. The two-day event, which starts on July 7, features many international educators along with a substantial number of local institutes.

Professional training can also be an alternative choice for students wishing to explore more than traditional schools. The expo features a series of free seminars focused on lifelong study, including local, mainland and overseas education. Top mainland universities which are gaining more attention from the public will also be participating.

Due to the coming summer holidays, the expo will arrange a series of seasonal activities this year. Various social associations and sports organisations will introduce different functions to the students so they can spend their holidays constructively. The Hong Kong Broadband Network, for example, will introduce its internet service with special packages so students can make use of online study after school.

'This is the first time we have had such arrangements and we expect to attract more than 20,000 participants to the expo this year,' said Agnes Eng, managing director for Key Media International, the event organiser.

Last year more than 13,500 people took part in the expo; 73 per cent were students, 16 per cent parents and 11 per cent were professionals.

'Many were able to make quick decisions after having face-to-face consultations with educational consultants. They then applied to the school they had chosen,' Ms Eng said.

She said many participants found the expo useful because they could do everything under one roof, including meeting counsellors and applying for a scholarship.

'Other than students, adults considering further training or degree programmes and human resources professionals will also find the expo has something for them. The event is suitable for everyone who has a need for education, learning and professional development.'

Free tickets will be distributed to more than 430 schools. Entry is also free for any walk-in individuals. For more information visit www.ed-expo.com
