Academic freedom in limelight

A democratic group of professionals and election committee members will host a public forum on academic freedom and institutional reform today. The Professional Commons, a group formed on election day in March to promote debate on public policies, said the forum would cover issues such as how academic freedom should be defined in Hong Kong, its link with public interest and whether it is under threat. Speakers will include Civic Party leader Audrey Eu Yuet-mee and Democrat Yeung Sum, as well as Cheng Kai-ming, chair professor of education at the University of Hong Kong. The forum and will be held this afternoon at 2.30, LT-8, 4th floor, academic building, CityU.
