Manchester United get Chinese website

Here's something exciting for fans of Manchester United. The football club will launch its Chinese official website next Monday.

Fans would also get a chance to win a trip to see the Red Devils in action.

With their Asian tour coming up, in which matches will be played in Macau and Guangzhou, the club has set up the user-friendly website for local fans.

The site, with its contents in simplified characters, will be a mirror image of its British version www.manutd.com. To generate interest among fans, the site would also include events in local areas as well as information on 22-year-old Chinese player Dong Fangzhou, who plays for the Red Devils.

Dong's blog and diaries would also be featured on the site. In addition, it would also be packed with the latest news, interviews, match reports and player profiles from Manchester United journalists.

'I'm really glad to hear that Manchester United have decided to launch the Chinese website,' said Lo Chun-kit, 18, who is a Man U fan. 'It will save me a lot of time because now I don't have to look up words in the English dictionary.

'However, it would be better if the content is not in simplified characters. Personally, I don't have a problem with that because I can read it. However, this may be a problem to many others in Hong Kong.'

To celebrate the launch, visitors will have a chance to win two tickets to see the team play at Old Trafford, home of Man U, and also to do an interview with Dong. The interview will be published on the Chinese website as well as uploaded to the site's video lounge, MUTV Online, for its millions of fans.

The competition opens from next Monday and ends on August 31. Details will be revealed after the launch of the website. For information, log on to www.manunited.com.cn
