PKKI diplomas are just in time

The Poon Kam Kai Institute of Management (PKKI) offers graduate diplomas in several disciplines. Gilbert Wong Yau-yee, associate professor at the Faculty of Business and Economics and executive director of PKKI, calls the diplomas 'just-in-time diplomas' because they are meeting the needs of a changing society at the right time.

The diplomas include a service excellence and leadership programme. The aim of the course is to bring up the level of knowledge and qualifications of people in the service industry and to raise the overall standard of the service in Hong Kong. Dr Wong said a good attitude was not enough to succeed in the service industry.

'It is important to understand what constitutes customers and the process and management systems.'

The course consists of four modules which look at the challenges and strategic issues in achieving service excellence; learning how to market great services and manage customers; and looking at organisational systems, measuring service quality and managing service operations.

The diploma was developed in conjunction with the Hong Kong Association for Customer Service Excellence (HKACE). Tuition fees are HK$36,000/HKACE members; HK$40,000/non-HKACE members.
