Mainland writer sues local publishing firm

A mainland journalist and writer is suing a Hong Kong-registered publishing firm, alleging it infringed his copyright by reproducing an article and photographs of his in another book. In a writ filed in the District Court, Wang Guangxiang is seeking HK$53,000 from Ha Fai Yi Publication. He is also seeking an injunction order restraining the firm from further infringing his copyright. An article and photographs by Mr Wang and two others were first published in three issues of Nantong Ribao (Nantong Daily) in 1998, the writ says. In September 2004, Mr Wang found part of his work had been republished in a book on sale in Singapore, under another name.
