Convoy puts boot into drug addiction

One of the four slogans in Convoy's vision is 'We Contribute', and the independent financial advice company has good reason to take pride in efforts on behalf of the community.

Convoy has been selected by the Hong Kong Council of Social Services as one of the most caring companies for the fifth consecutive year for being a creative and active corporate citizen.

A recent example has been the successful hosting of the ESWN soccer match this month at Shing Mun Valley, Tsuen Wan. The event was hosted jointly by the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hong Kong to raise funds for an anti-drug campaign.

Concerned about serious drug addiction among youth in Hong Kong, Convoy invited people of different generations in all districts to join forces against drugs through the channel of soccer. Convoy invited various organisations, including the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology MBA Alumni Association and Aviva Life Insurance to join the three games played that day. To attract greater public awareness, Convoy also invited its sponsored soccer team Sun Hei to participate in the friendly matches. The aim was 'to coach, demonstrate, educate and share with the youth as well as the general public'.

The Convoy Sun Hei Celebrities Team won the event. A total of HK$400,000 was raised for different activities to help combat drug use and provide counselling services to support young people. These services will be provided in Hong Kong and Shenzhen.

Aside from the anti-drug campaign, Convoy is open to new ideas on other ways to help society, and is looking forward to fulfilling its social responsibility by operating with NGOs on different projects.

Convoy hopes to contribute positively to the community and 'help those less fortunate all over the world'.
