PLENTY of new horses are now starting to come on stream and yesterday there were a couple who shaped like future winners.

The first one to catch the eye was Neville Begg's Palette Star who at one stage in the straight began to look dangerous in the race won so well by Lawrie Fownes' newcomer, China Cruise.

Palette Star had just started to pick up in his work coming into yesterday's second event and should be much better for the outing and maybe a bit farther.

K. H. Hung is a rare booking for the Fownes camp, explaining why Good As Gold was allowed to jump at any old odds in the fifth event won so decisively by Ivan Allan's Jharna who is a horse going places.

The way he stayed on Good As Gold is an indication he is capable of scoring in Class Three.

In the same race there was a very eye-catching effort from Golden Luck whose supporters can count themselves unlucky he did not run the quinella.
