The odd names of Danskina's new rugs provide clues as to what they're made of. The hand-tufted Papyra (below; HK$7,000 a square metre) mixes pure wool and paper and is available in 12 natural tones. Even better, the paper yarn (below right) has been treated to make it dirt, water and flame resistant. The Netherlands-based company, led by noted art director Ulf Moritz, also has Lino (above; HK$8,600 a square metre), a silky rug made from pure linen (above left) strengthened with polyamide. Not only is it non-allergenic and anti-bacterial, apparently it will make you feel warm in winter and cool in summer.
The rugs are sold at OVO Home, 16 Queen's Road East, Wan Chai, tel: 2526 7226.
