Denno Coil (DVD)

Cyberspace and virtual reality combine in a world where special glasses turn the world into something out of The Matrix.

Denno Coil is written and produced by Mitsuno Iso, a well known animator, designer, anime screenwriter and director. He has worked on shows such as Ghost in the Shell, Blood: The Last Vampire, and RahXephon.

The anime is produced by Madhouse Production who have brought a number of hit anime shows to the small screen including Bomberman, Di Gi Charat Galaxy Angel, and Paradise Kiss.

It's 2015, and technology has evolved. 'Augmented reality' (AR) has become a way of life for most people. By donning a pair of 'Denno eyeglasses', you can see and access the city's new digital infrastructure.

A digital layer is applied to what you see, making dilapidated roads, buildings and even lampposts appear rebuilt and renovated.

Making phone calls and accessing the net are also possible using your cyber glasses.

There are dangers to this technology: old and abandoned warehouses that are falling apart and collapsed floorboards look brand new, meaning you risk your life if you go near them wearing your Denno glasses.

The star of the show is Yuko Okonogi, who moves with her family to Daikoku city, the technological centre of the half-digital world.

They live with their eccentric grandmother who owns a shop selling digital artifacts and digital hacker software and tools.

Joining her grandmother's team of digital investigators, Yuko must unravel the mysteries that surround the virtual world.

Yuko also has to discover the motives of the anti-social and arrogant Yuko Amasawa, an expert AR hacker.

Just what is hiding in the Denno world? Can a group of teenagers figure out what lurks in the darker corners of the digital world? Find out how the investigators fare when Denno Coil comes out on DVD.
