Hong Kong faced a partial blackout of Yahoo's internet services yesterday. Some users said that when they tried to browse the yahoo.com.hk search engine, they were diverted to its competitor, Google. Yahoo said it discovered the problem at about noon yesterday. 'The problem does not affect the whole city. We are still investigating it,' a company spokesman said. It is thought the problem was in the domain name system of the computer server, which translates human-readable computer hostnames into IP addresses.
