When reality bites, step inside Oculas

Maybe this could be the ultimate gift from the beaming parent of one of those child prodigies who scored astronomical grades in the Certificate of Education Examination results this week.

It's called the Oculas, an entertainment capsule that completely cuts whoever steps inside off from reality so they can enjoy video games or movies.

Inside is a climate-controlled environment with a top-of-the-line sound system, television and an individually designed ergonomic chair.

The lighting is even supposed to mimic daylight. But while a 14-year-old capable of scoring eight As, a Level 5 in English, and a 5* in Chinese may well be in need of some down time, it would probably be tough to persuade them to leave again.

And the pampering parent would have to be rich - or prepared to cancel the trumpet lessons and after-school tutoring for a while - with the customised capsule costing HK$560,000 from Lane Crawford.
