Rethink urged over hawker permits

Polly Hui

Legislator Audrey Eu Yuet-mee yesterday urged the government to reconsider the decision to stop issuing hawker licences. In her Letter to Hong Kong on RTHK, the Civic Party leader appealed to the secretary for development to stop bulldozing Mong Kok's 'Sneaker Street' and Wan Chai's open-air market. 'We should revisit this policy. There is so much the government can do to make our few remaining open bazaars even more attractive,' she said.
