In your closet: Lucie McCollough

Wardrobe staple?

A black silk pencil skirt.

What do you wear to travel?

A pair of black palazzo pants from Giordano and a top to match, plus the all-important black cashmere cardi-wrap (a cross between a shawl and a cardigan).

Favourite fashion designers?

Valentino and Ralph Lauren - but I have to say that because I was, at varous times, their PR.

Fashion no-nos?

Designer outfits from head to toe.

Handbag pick for this season?

Anya Hindmarch's Canberra plaited gold leather bag. It's from last season, but I still love it.

Favourite shoe designers?

Prada for design and my old label Lula London.

Must-have accessory?

A cardi-wrap.

Favourite summer colours?

I love white in summer and black in winter. I wish I could stick to these rules, but I just love colour too much ... navy, red, taupe. And I'm mad for patterns too.

Two-piece or one piece swimsuit?

Two-piece by Pucci.

Favourite piece of jewellery?

My beautiful emerald and diamond engagement ring that my husband designed.

Your fashion style?

Eclectic, but never dull or predictable.

Dresses or trousers?

Dresses for summer. Trousers when I'm feeling trim.

Flats or stilettos?

Both. Either work for day or night.

High-end or high street?

High-end mixed with tailor-made.

What is your fashion obsession?

Hats on the beach - especially cowboy or panama styles.

Must-have summer clothes?

Short shift dresses and Prada's silver metallic shoes.

What's on your current wish list?

A white Hermes Birkin bag.

Favourite shopping destination?

10 Corso Como in Milan.

Best place for bargains?

Los Angeles flea markets.

Fashion disaster?

Having clothes made in Shenzhen by the wrong tailor.
