Suffolk poultry imports resume

The Centre for Food Safety announced yesterday that processing applications for importing poultry and poultry products from Suffolk in southeast England - which had an outbreak of H5NI bird flu six months ago - has resumed. 'In view of the control measures taken by Suffolk county and the fact that there are no other cases of avian influenza reported, we decided to resume processing of applications,' a centre spokesman said. The case of the highly pathogenic H5N1 was discovered at a poultry farm in February.
