Attending a retrospective of his works at the Asian American Film Festival in New York last month, After This Our Exile director Patrick Tam Ka-ming (right) decided once and for all to clear the air about the conclusion of Wong Kar-wai's movie Days Of Being Wild.

The blog Kaiju Shakedown just relayed that during his director's talk, Tam told the audience it was all his idea.

According to Tam (right), director Wong had promised the producers that the film would feature star Tony Leung Chiu-wai, even though it was already decided that his part of the story would be cut from the movie. At the same time, Wong was struggling because he still had no idea of how to end the ensemble feature. Luckily, Tam, as co-editor on the 1991 picture, had been looking at thousands of feet of film footage and was suddenly inspired to splice in the scene of Leung slowly getting ready to go out on the town.
