Scholars head to Toronto

Every year, seven Hong Kong students head out to The University of Toronto (U of T) in Canada to pursue further studies on scholarships. Scholarships of HK$800,000 a year are provided.

Set up in 1996, the scholarship programme has enabled 45 Hong Kong students to study at the university over the past 10 years.

The scholarships are awarded to underprivileged students who have a genuine interest in living abroad and discovering a new cultural experience.

Of the seven scholarships given out every year, four are awarded through The University of Toronto (Hong Kong) Foundation.

These include The University of Toronto (HK) Foundation Scholarship and two Dr Cheng Yu Tung Scholarships, which are open to all undergraduates, and the Fung Yiu King Memorial Commerce Scholarship.

Three independent Dr Lee Shau Kee University of Toronto Scholarships are awarded for study at the university's faculty of applied science and engineering.
