If you have a passion for biology but your blood runs with a sales drive, then this is the perfect job for you.


Hai Kang Life, an ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 accredited biotechnology firm focused on research and development in its early years, is now ready to launch in new markets.


The firm is on the hunt for a sales director to spearhead local and international expansion.


The mature and aggressive incumbent was expected to work with top management and directors to achieve strategic goals by overseeing sales and marketing of the company's products and services in the region and internationally, chief operating officer Terence Lau Lok-ting said.


More than 20 people in Hong Kong and Beijing will be assisting and reporting to the sales director.

Day-to-day duties include maximising profitability, managing existing clients, business development, enhancing and promoting the brand image, establishing operational procedures, reporting to management and managing ad-hoc projects.


A candidate with at least five years of sales and marketing experience with a background in life sciences is preferred.


'Product and service knowledge is quite important for this role. The sales director needs to understand the technical background of products and services as well as having the sales techniques to approach clients,' Dr Lau said.


A person with lots of energy and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills would do well.


The sales director would mainly work with the sales team, but would also work closely with other departments such as the research and development team to develop products and services catering for market demand.


Although there will be challenges in a position that requires a life sciences background coupled with commercial flair, Dr Lau assures that the company will provide training.

The sales director would receive intensive training in life sciences with an emphasis on the technical side as well as product knowledge so that the person may have a competitive edge and reach their full potential.


Travelling will be extensive for this post because the incumbent will be expected to work between the Beijing and Hong Kong offices, as well as attend international trade shows and seminars, and visit clients around the world.
