What drives it? A 6,749cc V12 direct-injection petrol engine with four valves per cylinder, belting out 453 brake-horsepower at 5,350rpm, with a six-speed automatic ZF 6HP32 gearbox, speed-sensitive rack and pinion steering, rear-wheel drive and ventilated disc brakes on 21-inch wheels.

How fast is it? The 2,620kg car has torque of 720Nm@3,500rpm, sprints to 100km/h in 5.8 seconds and tops out at 240km/h, the marque says.

How safe is it? It has anti-lock brakes, stability and rollover-protection electronics with reinforced bars behind the rear seat head restraints, active head restraints and seat-mounted, side-impact airbags and active front head restraints.

How thirsty is it? It knocks back 23.2 litres per 100 km in town and 11.3 l/100km in the country.

Fug factor: Spews 377 grams of CO2 per km, the fug of 2.9 Smart ForTwos.
