The Foreign Correspondents' Club is holding its ball at the Convention and Exhibition Centre this Saturday, and as usual there will be a charity auction.

Along with the expected celebrity knick-knacks and memorabilia - including a Placido Domingo-signed Wagner score, Frank Sinatra-autographed Rat Pack album, Jim Carrey's signature on a Dumb and Dumber script and a Beatles' autographed Magical Mystery Tour album - one odd item has been offered by a very generous donor.

Two hectares of a Texas ranch on a riverfront location by the Pecos River, just one hour's drive from land owned by US President George W. Bush, is perhaps not something you would expect to be available at a gala dinner in Hong Kong. We're assuming it has been exhaustively surveyed, with no trace of oil.

Rent a tux, buy a ticket to the ball and find out for yourself. Sergio Mendes will be playing some samba grooves too.

Proceeds will go to the Po Leung Kuk Scholarship Fund and FCC Language Training Centre. Tickets are HK$1,888 per person. Call 25211511.
