Mid-autumn holiday period set for lunar treat

Moon watchers will have to get up early or stay up late for the only chance in eight years to see a full moon during a Mid-Autumn Festival period. The moon can be seen at its fullest at 3.45am on September 27, two days after the festival. Except for this year, all mid-autumn full moons between 2005 and 2012 would fall during daylight hours. It will also appear larger as it will pass 24,000km closer to Earth than average.
