Taxi driver seen as hero by police

Police say a taxi driver who pulled two injured men from a burning car before it was gutted by fire should be given a good citizen award.

Chief Inspector Ho Chak-kan of Kowloon East traffic unit said the cabbie was probably the only passing motorist to pull over and offer help before police and firemen arrived at the scene.

Last night, police were still looking for the taxi driver, who left the scene before emergency crews arrived.

Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the crash to call them on 2305 7500 or 2305 7570.
