Find out how you can best tackle exams

It goes without saying that most students don't like exams.

Revision is usually boring. We have to remember a lot of different things for different subjects.

Studying for hours makes us tired and we may gradually lose our interest in the subjects. This makes remembering anything difficult.

But it's worth the effort. Many people believe exam results dictate our future. Even if that's not completely true, they can help us get into university and get a good job.

Exams also show us our strengths and weaknesses. Our results can predict what we might do in the future, based on what we're best at.

Although revision can be annoying, and exams are tiring, they are very important. We should study hard to make sure we have a bright future.

Thanks for writing in, Po-yin. A strange thing happened as I read you letter - it reminded me of a dream I had last night. Actually, it was more of a nightmare.

I dreamt that I was sitting an English literature exam. I was about to walk into the exam when I suddenly realised that not only did I know nothing about the exam - I hadn't read any of the books! Ahhh - I woke up in a cold sweat and was relieved that yes, it was just a dream.

I'm not sure what Freud would have to say about it, but I think it does say something about how scary exams can be. But whether you like them or not, they're an important part of life so you may as well work out your best way of not only coping with them - but excelling in them.
