Suicide suspected as cause of blaze in flat

A fire-investigation dog was sent in to sniff for flammable materials after the charred body of a 38-year-old man was found in bed inside a Sham Shui Po flat yesterday. Firemen evacuated five residents from the eight-storey building when a fire broke out in the sixth-floor unit on Castle Peak Road at 8.14am. After extinguishing the blaze, firefighters found the body of tenant Law Wai-shing. The dog, named Dexter, sniffed out suspected flammable material under the bed, leading firefighters to suspect suicide as the cause of the blaze.
