The English Schools Foundation claims the developer behind the Chianti residential development in Discovery Bay has used its newest school in its advertisements without seeking permission.

The advertisements, which allegedly contained inaccurate information about what will be taught at the new Discovery College when it opens next August, have appeared on TV and in the Chinese and English press, said Chris Forse, the ESF's head of parent and student services.

'We do wish to make it clear that these are not ESF-commissioned or ESF paid-for advertisements,' he said.

Mr Forse said the advertisements included an image of the school and made misrepresentative statements about some aspects of the school's curriculum.

But the developer of Discovery Bay, Hong Kong Resort International, said the information regarding Discovery College was 'provided by the ESF' and it was obliged to inform the public of the area's facilities, including educational facilities.

Mr Forse said to his knowledge no one from ESF gave the company information for an advertisement.
