SAR pair settle for silver

Hong Kong's Ko Lai-chak and Tie Yana (pictured) had to settle for a silver medal after they were defeated in the final of the mixed doubles at the Asian championships in Yangzhou yesterday. The SAR pair lost 4-2 to Oh Sang-eun and Kwak Bang-bang of South Korea (11-9, 7-11, 11-5, 6-11, 11-4, 11-8). Ko also won the mixed doubles silver at the last Asian championships when he partnered Zhang Rui in Cheju, South Korea, two years ago. In the women's singles, defending champion Lin Ling of Hong Kong lost 4-0 to China's Guo Yue, the second seed. Jiang Huajun is the city's only survivor and will take on Wang Nan of China in the quarter-finals.
