State fund achieves 15.2pc yield

The National Social Security Fund had a realised yield of 15.2 per cent in the first half of the year, Xinhua reported, citing Wang Zhongmin, vice-chairman of the National Council for Social Security Fund.

The fund's first-half operating yield was 21.01 per cent and its value had exceeded 400 billion yuan at the end of June, Mr Wang said. He said despite the fund adhering to the principle of safe and stable investments, its returns continued to grow every year.

The average annual rate of realised yield was 3.89 per cent and the operating yield was 6.88 per cent, beating inflation 2.84 times and 5.02 times respectively, he said.

Liu Changlin, director-general of the investment department of the National Council for Social Security Fund, said last week that the fund would increase the amount invested in overseas securities and broaden the types of products it bought.
