Maggie Q dresses down for animal rights campaign

Hong Kong model turned international movie star Maggie Q - aka Quigley - returned to town briefly on Monday to support her favourite cause, Peta (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals).

After similar launches in Beijing and Shanghai, the animal rights group's Hong Kong office hastily arranged a media meet for the Die Hard 4 star at the presidential suite of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel.

It seems Quigley is set to appear in two new Peta print ads clad only in lettuce and chilli peppers, with the aim of enticing the public to go vegetarian. She said there were two reasons why she went meat-free seven years ago. 'One is I don't have to eat animals to live, so I don't; and the second is that there is a huge lack of awareness about what compassion could mean to another living being.'

As a result of this epiphany of conscience, she went cold turkey with no turkey.

Unfortunately, Quigley chose only to chat with the event's host, which left the media to grumble a bit when she declined to actually take any Q&As from the gallery. Still, there's no denying the ads are eye-catching.

As for all you guys ogling the former model's ad, you can make your own dumb joke about tossing her salad. It's too cheap even for me.
