F.Stop ahead for the Black Market Ensemble

THERE'S a new band in town making some serious waves among the territory's ''danceaholics''. They are called Black Market Ensemble and they have just landed a regular gig at F.Stop every Saturday.


These guys manage to appeal to both dance and alternative music lovers with their avant-garde blend of Afro-Latin rhythms and harmonies with reggae grooves. Catch them in action from 10pm.


Tonight: Folk-rock band The Shadowboxers take to the Fringe Club at 9pm and guitarist Elvin Bishop takes to the Jazz Club from 9.30pm. May Ip and Asian Cajun are performing at the Police Officer's Club from 8pm, admission $20.


The Red Tartan Pipe Band are holding their bagpipe and drumming concert at the Sheung Wan Civic Centre at 8pm. Admission $30. AWOL at the Amoeba from 10pm.


Hooray Howard and the Henries will be at The Wanch from 10pm. And Judgement A.D. features house band Max Tempo from 10.30pm.


Dave Colquhoun will play at Mad Dogs Kowloon at 6pm before moving over to Mad Dogs Central at 9pm.


Tomorrow: The Bastards make their long awaited return to The Wanch at 10pm, with Ritchie Weintraub performing during happy hour at 7pm.


Instant Moonshine at the Fringe Club, from 9pm and Elvin Bishop at the Jazz Club from 9.30pm. L.A. Laww are back at the L.A. Cafe from 10pm.


DJ Mickey Smith's Rebirth of Cool will be at club IT from midnight (admission $60). The Rock Gang at Amoeba from 10pm.


Sunday: Ric Halstead joins forces with Eugene Pao at the Jazz Club, 9.30pm. Monday: May Ip at F.Stop from 9.30pm. Musical Mystery Tour at the Jazz Club from 9pm.


Tuesday: The Sisters of Sharon play for Radio Free Hong Kong at F.Stop, from 9pm. Admission $30. Jewish music from Besht Tellers at the Fringe Club at 9pm followed by Karlo playing folk-rock at 10pm. Eugene Pao and Dave Packer at the Jazz Club. Wednesday: Nogabe hit the stage at the Jazz Club at 9.30pm. Bambi and The Bambinos in The Wanch from 9pm.


Thursday: Eugene Pao's R&B band take to the Jazz Club from 9.30pm. Mercell will play jazz, soul and funk at F.Stop from 9pm.


Plus: Soul singer Caroline Loftus at Quo Quo in Central every Monday through Saturday from 9.30pm. The Wanch's resident guitar man, Sammy, takes to the stage on Sunday through Wednesday from 9pm.


Music Lights at the Cyrano Bar, Island Shangri-La, from 9pm, Monday to Saturday. Pianomen Renato D Sulit and Edwin Gutierrez at the Island Shangri-La Lobby Lounge from 5pm from Monday to Saturday.
