A shortage of halls of residence is hindering development of Polytechnic University's exchange student programme, vice-president for academic development Suleyman Demokan said this week. PolyU sent 500 local students to more than 20 countries and received 550 international students this academic year, he said, but the exchange quota was set to double in five years. The university would need more land to house an increasing number of overseas and mainland students. The government recently released land in Prince Edward but it was only enough to house 1,000 students, 2,000 less than needed.
