Hong Kong men's team had to settle for a silver medal after they lost to pre-tournament favourites China 3-0 in the final of the world team cup in Magdeburg, Germany last night. Wang Liqin, the reigning world champion, made a perfect start for China when he won in three straight games 11-8, 11-5, 11-7 against Li Ching. Leung Chu-yan took the first game from Wang Hao in the second match, but that was the best he could offer. Wang then partnered Ma Lin to take the third doubles and overall title when they beat Leung and Ko Lai-chak 5-11, 11-9, 9-11, 11-6, 11-9.
