The Labour Advisory Board voted unanimously yesterday to endorse a proposal to cut the levy of the Protection of Wages on Insolvency Fund, which exceeded HK$1 billion this month. The levy, which helps settle workers' unpaid wages and is included in Business Registration Certificate fees, will be cut from HK$600 to HK$450 a year. The 671 applications of the fund this year covered 3,305 workers, compared with 5,231 workers from the 831 applications last year - a fall of 37 per cent.
