Ex-policeman convicted of taking bribes

A former policeman was convicted yesterday at Kowloon City Court of accepting nearly HK$9,000 in bribes from a Mong Kok nightclub operator. Leung Kin-fai, 48, who had been detective senior police constable attached to the Marine Port district at the time of the offences, was found guilty of four counts of accepting an advantage. Magistrate Peter Law Tak-chuen adjourned the case to October 31 for sentencing and granted Leung bail of HK$3,000. Leung was arrested following an Independent Commission Against Corruption investigation.
