City University is to send its first batch of law students to Australia next year for a month to gain a global perspective on legal education.

CityU School of Law launched the Global Legal Education and Awareness Programme last week and signed a collaborative agreement with Monash University's law faculty to promote excellence in legal education and help students gain a global outlook.

The law school's dean, Wang Guiguo, said the 50 students studying for law degrees funded by University Grants Committee would be sent to Monash University in Melbourne for an intensive one-month course.

'The students will be studying one subject to expose themselves to global issues,' Professor Wang said, adding they could also take part in student activities.

'This is the first step. We are negotiating with other European universities at the moment.'
