Help! I've had an accident!

John Millen

We all have little accidents from time to time. We might cut our finger with a knife or bang our leg against a table. How do accidents happen and what do we do?

An accident-prone family

I think we are the most accident-prone family in the world. Not a week goes by without one of us doing something stupid and ending up with an injury.

Last week was a really bad week. Mum hit her head on the kitchen door and still has a massive bruise on her forehead. My sister Lou cut her finger when she was preparing some vegetables and we had to take her to hospital for a couple of stitches. Ted, my little brother, twisted his led during a football match at school and an ambulance brought him home. Dad burnt his hand on the kettle whilst he was boiling water for a cup of coffee.

And me? Don't laugh! I fell over a dog in the street and bruised my leg. Even the cat didn't escape. Mum shut the living-room door on his tail and the poor thing was in agony. Yes, there is a curse on our family as far as accidents are concerned. I have suggested we all stay in bed next week and then we'll avoid another week like the one we've just had.
