Volcanic source Designer Giorgio Armani has conquered the fashion industry. He has a successful makeup range and now he is turning his attention to the skin care sector with the launch of Crema Nera (below right). Described as 'one cream for a lifetime', the designer enlisted the help of L'OrEal researchers and a volcanic expert to create a cream based on Obsidian Pantellerite (below left), a natural mineral compound found on the volcanic island of Pantelleria off the coast of Italy (main picture), where the designer has a home. The island is lush with greenery and researchers believe the mineral provides the earth with the nutrients required to thrive. Obsidian contains a concentration of vital minerals that researchers believe can give skin cells the energy required to function at their optimum level, at any age in life, hence the 'one cream for a lifetime' catchphrase. According to the brand, the cream formula regenerates cells for 'a renewed, softer and more radiant skin'. The cream costs HK$2,700. Mineral-based secondary products including cleanser are also available.
