Snapshot of success

The Classic Car Club of Hong Kong kindly sent us a photograph of the winners and judges of its concours, at St Andrews, Beas River. Congratulations to all (below) at last Sunday's show.

Charity revs on the Tamar site

Richburg is holding a charity event and clearance sale on the Tamar site before construction begins on government offices. The event opened on Thursday and will run today and tomorrow from 10am to 7.30pm.

'Richburg is raising money for The Senior Citizen Home Safety Association, which runs a call centre and allows senior citizens to press a beeper which links them to the call centre for help in case of emergencies,' says the dealer's spokesman, Fai Tsang. 'Richburg is donating all of the [HK$10] entry fees and money raised from other events to the organisation.'

The show will feature more than 300 new and used multipurpose vehicles and sports utility vehicles, sports cars and luxury saloons, and the dealership will donate HK$2,000 for each car sold, Tsang says.

'A track version 1969 Fairlady, Volvo 122 and an antique Ford, [the] same one as the one in the Harry Potter movie', will also be displayed, he says. From 11am on Sunday, there will be a slalom competition and drifting displays by members of the Lotus Club, Mobilio Club and maybe the Altenza Club. There are also plans for charity drives in a sports car. 'For a donation of HK$990, the public can [ride] in a sports car around a secured area in Tamar,' Tsang says.

On their bikes

The Motorcycle Show is gathering momentum, with six new participants signing up for the November 4 event, says organiser Ian Foster.

The show will also hold a 'people's choice' competition, he says, with Dunhill sponsoring three prizes for the Best British Classic. Prize donations are needed for other best categories, such as Best Harley Davidson; American Custom Bike; Japanese Custom Cruiser; Scooter; Sports Bike; Off-Road Bike and Bike of Show, Foster says.

The police and several dealers will show off their new machines, and many bike clubs will attend. Last year's event (above) was a fine day out, so keep Sunday free. Inquiries: [email protected]
