Case of the duelling store openings

It was bound to happen. With so many high-end shops throwing opening events at the new Elements mall in West Kowloon, a clash of schedules was inevitable. Last Thursday it was DKNY versus Karen Millen. Both outlets ended up holding fashion shows at exactly the same time, even on the same floor. The British label Karen Millen had a big stage in the atrium, but the stylish American brand DKNY managed to draw more city celebrities to its in-store show, including Fiona Sit Hoi-kei, Myolie Wu hang-yee, Huang Shengyi and Shawn Yue Man-lok, who just finished working on I Come With The Rain with Josh Hartnett and Takuya Kimura. 'It was a good experience,' Yue told us after the show. 'I did that movie not because it was Hollywood but because I'm a fan of the director [Anh Hung Tran]. It's very different from a Hong Kong film. We may shoot only four or five set-ups in an entire day. I also had to focus on my acting more.'
