Avant-garde Dutch design collective Droog is still going strong, having launched the careers of Hella Jongerius and Marcel Wanders who are now regarded as icons in the industry. Last year Droog selected 52 of its products from 40 different designers and launched A Human Touch exhibition in Shanghai's Gallery Bund 18. The exhibition toured Australia and is now back in China. Opening at Beijing's Yonghe Museum, A Human Touch looks at the relationship between people and products.

British photographer Michael Putland is holding court at Liberty's 4th Floor Gallery in London. Putland's first assignment, after assisting Time/Life photographer Walter Curtain, was snapping rock'n'roll sex symbol Mick Jagger. From Jagger he went on to photograph other giants of the British music scene including John Lennon, Elton John, The Clash and David Bowie. Today his subjects include classical, jazz and world musicians. The exhibition features past and present work from a cross-section of genres. Since opening in July, the 4th Floor Gallery in Regent Street has showcased works by new and established artists in a rotating display of drawings, paintings and photographs.

It's that tome again

Taschen, the venerable publisher of art books, is back with another authoritative tome. The A-Z of Modern Architecture, edited by Peter Gossel, chronicles 600 architects from the 18th to 21st centuries. Carefully researched and beautifully put together over 1,080 pages (in two volumes), each entry carries a portrait and profile of the architect, a description of their important works and historical context. The book is lavishly illustrated with photographs, archival illustrations and floorplans, and contains a glossary of architectural terms.
