With so many parties and events last week, one of the victims of the glut was Thursday's Mini Cooper car preview way out in Stanley. For one thing, the weather was quickly turning and lots of folks were worried it might rain.

Then there was the matter of it taking place all the way out on the south side of the island, which is a drag on the party crawl. Last, when some of the A-listers did arrive they were blocked by hundreds of teenage girls who had found out the Mini people had invited Taiwan boy band Lollipop (left) to perform. Faced with hordes of screaming kids, a few people quickly got back into their chauffeured cars and headed back to town.

'There were over 300 fans at the airport and another 300 outside the party,' a publicist said. A guest said there were more people outside than inside.

Frankly, we don't understand the appeal of these five pubescent mopheads but apparently they are all the rage. Perhaps Mini is trying to sell its new Clubman model to young female drivers?
