One of the runways at Chek Lap Kok airport was closed for 30 minutes yesterday after tyres on a China Eastern Airlines Airbus A-330 blew out on landing and damaged lights on the runway. A spokeswoman for the Civil Aviation Department said some of the edge lights on the northern runway were damaged during the landing of flight MU 701 from Pudong, Shanghai, at 11.25am. No one was hurt. She said several flights were delayed before the runway reopened at noon.
