Lucky No 8 to turn faces at Olympics

Omega is counting down the days to the Beijing Olympics next year with a series of limited edition watches which will be released in the run-up to the event. The watchmaker will be the official timekeeper at the Games for the 23rd time in its history. Its association with the Olympics began at the 1932 Games in Los Angeles, when it was official timekeeper for the first time. The Beijing Olympic collection will comprise six limited editions themed around the numbereight, a lucky number in Chinese culture. The first editions were launched on August8, and the second in the series launched last month on October25, 288 days before the opening ceremony. This collection, the De Ville Co-Axial Chronograph Ladies' Limited Edition set has the hallmarks of the regular model of the same name, but with Olympic references - the five Olympic rings feature on the counterweight of the chronograph's second hand, and the Beijing 2008 logo is stamped on the case back, for example. Subsequent launches will take place in the run-up to the games - 188 days, 88 days, and eight days before the kick-off. The final editions will launch on August8, the day the Games open.
