High-flying show for kite-lovers

Rebecca Tsui

Kites of all shapes, colours and sizes are on show at a public exhibition on Hong Kong Island.

The Kite Festival, which runs until Sunday, is being held on a large area of grassland at Cyberport.

The exhibits include a dragon kite more than 240 metres long and mini-versions measuring between five and 12 centimetres.

Many other colourful kites from various countries, including China, Japan, South Korea, the United States, Britain, France and Canada, will be on display for the first time in Hong Kong.

In addition, you can make your own kite. Visitors who want to experience this traditional art can join workshops to be conducted by experienced tutors.

Participants will be able to fly their own kites in the beautiful waterfront environment.

Workshops will be held tomorrow and on Sunday at 2pm, 3pm and 4.30pm.

The fee is HK$30, which includes one set of kite-making materials and a memorial pin.
