More than 11,000 final year undergraduate students have registered for this year's International English Language Testing System - a 14 per cent year-on-year increase. A spokesman for the University Grants Committee said the participation rate showed that students attached importance to their English proficiency. The Common English Proficiency Assessment Scheme was launched in 2002-03.
